Mixed Start For LKS

Following the postponement of LKS’ first game, LKS finally kicked their season off on Wednesday.

A step up to Division Three was always going to be difficult following last season’s exploits in winning Division Six. Undeniably, it’s even worse when a side loses circa eight players. So when the favourites for the league roll in to town, a side will always be up against it. That’s exactly what happened to LKS. Make no bones about it, Sileby Athletic played LKS off the park at times. LKS did manage to score through debutant Kane Peden but the damage had been done by that point, with Sileby ultimately running out winners by seven goals to one.

So, on to Sunday. Beware of a wounded animal is the old saying. LKS would start brightly against visitors Swinford Chequers. However, caught on the counter and Swinford go one up. Then the same thing happened again to make it two goals to nil. Before they knew LKS were two down against the run of play. Along with the home side’s heads going down, came another two goals for the visitors. A disparaging remark from a Swinford player would stir LKS back to life, and before long the arrears had been halved going into half time through Synclair Jules and David Parkes.

The second half was a tumultuous affair with LKS managing to win through by eight goals to six. Goals coming through a further two by Synclair, another one for Parkes, two for Kane Peden and then one for Daniel Jules.

LKS’ next match is on Sunday 14th September 2014, away to Humberstone 2000. Kick off for those wishing to spectate is 10:30am.
